Today's Sketch Challenge was pretty straight-forward. The big requirement was that a cutout piece or an embellishment of some sort be there for the 4th piece--otherwise, it was too similar to a previous sketch. I had no idea what I wanted to do with this sketch--I thought of using my new star punch, but I strayed away from the stars as my Thickers called out to me. I LOVE Thickers, but I tend to just collect them and not use them so they're feeling a little neglected in their cellophane packages just hanging there on my counter. I used my vinyl Poolside collection for this particular project. Thickers come in a variety of textures and fonts. I've used the felt, vinyl and chipboard. I sat near a woman at a crop recently who tried the velvet and she wasn't too pleased with them so I don't know about those. Anyway, since I was in an American Crafts kind of mood, I grabbed a sheet of AC paper I had and went to work. I thought this pattern would work with the Thickers I chose and I was pleased to find that my Scallop Circle Punch fit around one of the circles on a scrap I had perfectly. I was going to cut out a flower from a coordinating pattern, but this was much easier and I think it keeps the look a lot more consistent. I used some stamps from Papertrey Ink to add to my sentiment panel and then a duo of grosgrain to finish it off. This card took a little longer to make just

because I tried a bunch of different words, but really--it's a simple card that could be made very quickly. So, the next time you're looking at all of your random alphabet stickers, think of an easy card you can whip up using them. Mixing up colors and fonts would be fun so it's a great way to use up all of those extra letters you've been accumulating. Here's the sketch in case you'd like to tackle it yourself.
