Two Challenges in One: CC151, SC161

Since I was busy getting ready for my Open House last night, I didn't have time to do the yesterday's Color Challenge on Splitcoast so I combined it with today's Sketch Challenge. Yesterday's Color Challenge was called, "Making Yo-Yo Yellow Look Good" and I thought it was a great challenge since I rarely use Yo-Yo Yellow. Going Gray and Basic Gray were the two other colors to use and I thought they went well with the yellow. You can see that I really just used the yellow as an accent color. For today's Sketch Challenge, we had to use a large flower on the left-hand side of the card so I immediately thought of these Steel Magnolias I had picked up in Kansas City at CKC. I had these large sparkly brads that I also picked up, but none of them were yellow. In order to restyle my brad, I used a yellow paint pen that I had on hand to color it and then I applied some glue and Dazzling Diamonds to give it some sparkle. Surprisingly, the yellow matched my paper almost perfectly! The manufacturer of the Steel Magnolias and the Glitter Gumdrops is Imaginisce, and I do believe The Keepsake Element in Bloomington carries them. I'm almost sure I saw them in there. If you haven't been to Bloomington's newest scrapbook store, you should go and check it out! Back to the card--it was finished with some paper piercing and that was about it. Now that I've moved my Crafter's Toolkit so that it is within an arm's reach, I'm finding that I use it more often.
