New Stamps and a Color Inspiration Challenge

I wanted to use some new stamps since it seems like I went a little crazy buying new stuff last month. This set was from the Papertrey release last month and it's called Father Knows Best. I basically had to buy this set because I LOVED this particular tree! I liked that there were two circular stamps that one could stamp and punch out to accent certain parts of the tree. You can see that I stamped the larger circular stamp using Soft Sky and the smaller one with Chocolate Chip while the actual tree was stamped using Close to Cocoa. I think the smaller stamps allow the stamper to easily add dimension to the tree which is very nice. The sentiment is stamped in Chocolate Chip. Since Madeline's birthday is the day before Father's Day I figured it wouldn't hurt to get a card done now since it's possible I'll neglect Father's Day considering Maddie's birthday party will be that day. Now, some of the sentiments included in this set are a little cheesy for me to ever use with my dad, but they'll be great for Steve because he's a little more of a sensitive kind of a guy compared to my ROCKIN' rollin' dad :-) Kristina Werner's Color Inspiration Challenge #7 was posted and I loved the colors--they were similiar to a challenge a few weeks ago where I did that big eyelet card. That challenge actually had a much different color combo, but I kinda modified it and ended up with something very similar to this week's -- Kristina hasn't done two of practically the same combinations in case you were wondering!

For those who haven't seen Kristina's Color Inspiration Challenges, you can check them all out by clicking here. As you can see in this graphic from her blog, she chooses some type of inspiration from a picture and then determines which Stampin' Up! colors can be drawn from that picture. She chooses ten random cards and then she chooses her top ten to be featured on her blog a couple of days after she posts the challenge. The deadline to be considered for this week's challenge isn't until Thursday at 5:00 pm CST so there's still time for you to submit a card this week if you're
interested!

Stamps: Father Knows Best
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa, Soft Sky, Very Vanilla, Au Chocolat DSP (retired)
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa, Soft Sky

Great card. Thanks for pointing out that stamp set, I like the interchangeable leaves. It'll go on "my list".
