SC166

Today's sketch challenge looked a lot like Beate's recent Weekend Sketch Challenge but since I never got around to completing her challenge, I didn't mind the similarities :-). I had some scraps left from Krystal's workshop so these colors probably look familiar--the DSP is from the Crew Kids Girl Simply Scrappin' Kit as are some of the die-cut embellishments. The Wasabi strips running along each side of panel #2 are actually diecuts from the kit. The piece was actually a 12" strip, but it was easy to cut it down and use it to embellish both the top and bottom of the panel. The other die-cut piece that I used was that pink scalloped circle over to the right. It was the perfect size to mount a sentiment from Circle of Friendship. The bird must look familiar as it seems I've been pulling her out a lot recently :-) I stamped it in Basic Gray and colored in the designs with Regal Rose and Garden Green and I'm not really pleased with the results. I think the dark gray and green don't really have enough contrast so I should have just colored it all in with the pink OR stamped the bird in the pink. I'll probably rework it a little bit if I have time tonight and see if I can get it to look a little better. The eye of the bird was colored in with Garden Green and that was a huge mistake because then it was difficult to even see it so I put a drop of Liquid Pearls there to bring the eye back out and it just looks freakishly shiny now so ya, don't know that I'll be using the Liquid Pearls again on a bird's eye!
Here's a look at the sketch--maybe you'd like to give it a whirl!

Karen, your card turned out gorgeous! And yes, I thought the same thing. After just making two cards with this layout, I sat this challenge out. LOL
