Cards from Krystal's Workshop

Krystal hosted a workshop last night and it was so much fun. She had a great group of crafters show up and I was happy to meet another 'collector' :-) Now, I understand that most people just wanted to come to see Krystal's LOVELY new home, but I prepared some make and takes anyway. The first one was a CASE from a card a woman had done for the color challenge using YoYo Yellow and Gray. You can see her card here. I loved how she did some paper piecing with the umbrella and while I would have loved to have CASED her project exactly, I wanted to use product that was current so I substituted this patterned paper for the Charbon which she had used. This particular pattern that I used is actually from a Simply Scrappin' Kit called Crew Kids Girl. I used to think those kits were a ginormous waste of money, but I really didn't pay attention to what actually came in the kits. I looked at the picture and didn't really read to see that you got 6 sheets of the adhesive die-cuts (these are awesome!), 6 sheets of 12 x 12 DSP (Designer Series Paper OR Double-Sided Paper) and 8 sheets of 12 x 12 Textured Cardstock. Basically, it comes to $1 a 'sheet' and while the textured cardstock isn't really that valuable, the die-cuts are definitely worth more than $1 a sheet in my opinion so it all kinda balances out if you know what I mean. I figure I can easily do 2 6x6 albums with the amount of materials that are included! Now, of course I do wish I could just buy the patterned paper by the sheet or even a pack because I really love this polka dot pattern!
Stamp Set: A Little Birdie Told Me
Paper: Basic Gray, Regal Rose, Whisper White, Crew Kids Girl
Ink: Basic Gray
Accessories: Basic Gray Taffeta Ribbon, Circle Punches

I know most of you saw this Berry Bliss DSP in the new catty and knew it would be one of the first things I ordered--it's pink and brown! This card was made very easily, but it actually incorporated three different stamp sets! You can see the sentiment panel was stamped using Wonderful Favorites, the scalloped piece was stamped using So Many Scallops (which most of you have gotten for FREE) and then the little flowers are from a set called Classic Backgrounds which is a small set I'll probably use over and over again. I linked it so you can take a look at it in case you haven't noticed it. I like the little argyle piece and I love the polka-dot star because not only is it cute, but it can be punched out using the new large star punch! LOVE when images and punches coordinate. Now on this particular card, the scalloped piece could have been punched out with the Scallop Circle Punch, but we actually hand-trimmed the image and then mounted it onto a punched piece of Pretty in Pink just to add a pop of color around it.
Paper: Close to Cocoa, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Pretty in Pink, Berry Bliss DSP
Ink: Close to Cocoa, Pretty in Pink
Accessories: Uni-Ball Signo White Gel Pen, Scallop Circle Punch

Maddie and I spent a lovely day at the Children's Discovery Museum with some friends we hadn't seen in a LONG time so I didn't get a chance to stamp today. Hopefully I can get back to doing some challenges tomorrow. I think the only challenge I'll be able to tackle today is cleaning my house...ugh. It has to be done, right?
