I loved the Criss-Cross cards that JoLynn was working on for Christmas so I just had to try them. Beate Johns wrote a tutorial for this type of card on Splitcoast, but I didn't like the fact that I would have to use an entire 8.5" x 11" sheet of cardstock for one card base. I modified the design so that I could use a 12" x 12" sheet of cardstock to get three card bases! The final card ends up being 5" across instead of 5.5" and the flaps that cross over don't reach all of the way to the sides. I think it's a cute variation on the Criss-Cross card and conserves paper for those of you wanting to make a whole bunch of these without using up as much cardstock.
One 4" x 12" piece of cardstock for the card base
One 3.25" x 3.75" piece of Double-Sided Designer Series Paper
One 3.75" x 4.75" piece of cardstock for inside card base
One 3.5" x 4.5" neutral piece of cardstock for inside greeting
Step 1
Score your 4" x 12" piece of cardstock 3.5" from each end. This should give you a piece of cardstock that has a 5" space in the middle and then two squarish pieces on the ends.
Step 2
To make your flaps that will fold in the the center, you'll need to cut off a triangle from each side (squarish sections on the ends). Cut one side at a diagonal from the top to the bottom right. Then, cut the other side from the top center to the bottom left. Fold these flaps in towards the center.
Step 3
Cut your patterned piece of paper in half at a diagonal. These pieces will then be attached to the flaps that are folded in towards the center of your card.
Step 4
Secure the flaps with a strong adhesive.
Now, I think you can probably finish the rest on your own, but feel free to comment with any questions you might have!
