Samples for Andrea

A couple of months ago, I made some invitations and 'thank you' cards for my friend, Leigh. Some of you may remember the 1st birthday party invitation samples that were on the blog. Well, a friend of hers has asked me to make some baby shower invitations so I've made a couple of samples to share with her and thought I may as well share them with you all as well! The first set is a simple polka dot theme in pink and brown (yes, I know what you're thinking and NO, I didn't force her into using pink and brown--these are just possibilities :-) I used a stamp set by Papertrey Ink called Polka Dot Basics and for the 'thank you' I used Wonderful Words by Stampin' Up! as well. I stamped the first set of Polka Dots using Pretty in Pink and then the outline was stamped in Chocolate Chip. On the middle card, I rotated the card and added some ribbon at the top. Ribbon can be tedious, but it adds a nice touch--though, I have to say, I kinda like the first invite without it because that layout just didn't work with the ribbon for me. I probably could have run a brown piece along the dots like I did on the 'thank you' card...hmmm...now that's an idea!

And, here is another set using a little baby stroller and of course, some more polka dots. All of the stamps on these cards are from Stampin' Up!, but I can't remember the name of them...will have to look them up and report back to you all...which really means I'll just forget and you can ask me if you're interested. The stroller was stamped in Basic Brown and colored in using an Aqua Painter and Pretty in Pink Stampin' Write marker. I like the soft, subtle look that watercoloring gives the image as opposed to just coloring it with the marker. These cards almost look too similar so I may have to rework one or the other. We'll see!

Hi Karen,

I like the baby stroller card on the left the best. I agree a brown strip on that other card would set it off better. By the way the stamp set the stroller is from is "Something to Celebrate". I have it too but have never used it.

I dig the polka dots. They are so much easier to do when you are making a mass amount of cards at once. The one with brown ribbon, of course, is my fav.

You are so innovative, friend.

Adorable cards, both of them. But my favorite is the one of the left. I am addicted to scallop circles.
